Solid-state NMR and Dynamic Nuclear Polarisation on Paramagnetic Membrane Proteins

We are looking for an open-minded, enthusiastic, committed and diligent individual with a background in chemistry, biochemistry, physics or biophysics (German Diploma/MSc equivalent). Previous hands-on experience with NMR or EPR spectroscopy will be very helpful.

The successful candidate will work with “conventional” as well as DNP-supported MAS-NMR on membrane proteins. The work can be extended towards method development in the area of (pulsed) DNP and/or paramagnetic solid state NMR.  The project will be carried out in close collaborations with groups from the Institutes for Biochemistry and Theoretical and Physical Chemistry.

We offer a state-of-the-art research infrastructure including solid-state NMR (850 and 600 MHz) and DNP (258GHz/393MHz) spectrometers. An academic staff scientist provides user support.  The lab is part of the Frankfurt Centre for Biomolecular Magnetic Resonance (BMRZ), the research network SFB 807 “Transport across membranes “ and the Cluster of Excellence “Macromolecular Complexes”. It takes part in various European research and infrastructure initiatives. The lab is located at the new Riedberg Campus of the Goethe University, which is a recognised hotspot for membrane protein research and magnetic resonance spectroscopy.

Enquiries and applications shall be addressed to Clemens Glaubitz (glaubitz@em.uni.frankfurt.de). The deadline for applications is October 30th 2011.
