Both candidates will contribute to the activities of the group in cell targeting and drug delivery. The first project will investigate new ways to modulate the permeability of epithelia, the second project will implement high-throughput methods to screen polymers for drug delivery. Both projects will make intensive use from advanced fluorescence microscopy techniques. The projects are part of international collaborative efforts with academic partners and industry. Candidates will therefore participate in very active interdisciplinary research networks that bring together experts in polymer chemistry, molecular pharmacology and cell biology.
Appropriate candidates should have a strong background in cell biology and advanced fluorescence microscopy and digital image analysis (screening position). Background in (bio-) organic chemistry is desirable. The yearly brutto salary is about € 49,000 dependent on the prior working experience of the candidate.

The Department of Biochemistry (http://www.umcn.nl/Research/Departments/Biochemistry/Pages/default.aspx) is part of the Nijmegen Centre for Molecular Life Sciences (www.ncmls.nl) that offers a diverse scientific environment at the interface of fundamental and applied biomedical research.

Funding for is available for three years (Transbarrier Transport) and two years (Screening). Both positions are open from April 1st, 2011.
