Post doctoral position in miRNA biology
The Department of Biology, University of Copenhagen, is recruiting a post doctoral researcher for a 2-year project to work on mechanisms of microRNA (miRNA) action in the newly established research group of Peter Brodersen. The starting date is April 1st 2011 or as soon as possible thereafter. The group is housed in the recently inaugurated Biocenter in central Copenhagen, Denmark (http://www.biocenter.ku.dk/).
The group uses the plant Arabidopsis thaliana to study mechanisms employed by miRNAs to regulate gene expression. The successful candidate will investigate the association of the silencing machinery with membrane compartments using primarily biochemical and genetic approaches. A major goal of the project is to identify and characterize novel factors required for membrane recruitment of the silencing machinery.
We are looking for a highly motivated individual with a Ph.D. degree in molecular biology or equivalent. Experience with protein purification in addition to standard molecular biological skills will be considered an advantage, but is not a formal requirement. The applicant must be fluent in written as well as spoken English. The position is open to all applicants regardless of nationality, and will be funded by a grant from the Novo Nordisk Foundation.
Terms of appointment and payment are in accordance with the agreement between the Danish Ministry of Finance and the Danish Federation of Professional Associations (AC). Post doc salary is based on seniority and is between DKK 376.923 and DKK 396.851 (roughly between EUR 50.500 and EUR 53.000) annually before pension contribution. Negotiation for further supplement will be possible.
Applications should be sent as a single pdf file to Job15@bio.ku.dk marked “211-0055/11-5550” no later than February 14, 2011 and must contain the following sections: A 1-page letter explaining the applicant´s background and reasons for applying, a 1-page curriculum vitae, a list of peer-reviewed publications (may include papers under review), master diploma including grades, Ph.D. diploma including any evaluation if applicable. Letters of recommendation may be included at the end of the application. In addition, a signed hardcopy of the application must be posted to “Peter Brodersen”, Department of Biology, University of Copenhagen, Ole Maaløes Vej 5, 2200 Copenhagen N, Denmark.
For further information on the project contact Associate Professor Peter Brodersen, e-mail pbrodersen@bio.ku.dk
The University of Copenhagen wishes to reflect the diversity of society and welcomes applications from all qualified candidates regardless of personal background.
