Postdoc position in molecular imaging

Maximilian Ulbrich Laboratory, Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg
Membrane Signaling – Single Molecule Microscopy – Biophysics of Ion Channels and Receptors

A postdoctoral position is available in the Max Ulbrich Laboratory at the University of Freiburg in the BIOSS Centre for Biological Signalling Systems and the Institute for Physiology.

The focus of the Ulbrich laboratory is the investigation of cellular processes with novel optical tools. By using single molecule microscopy in living cells, we directly observe dynamic processes like the association and dissociation of membrane proteins and their transmission of signals through the plasma membrane. Current projects include immune receptor dynamics, superresolution imaging and the assembly of receptors necessary for synaptic transmission.

We are looking for a highly motivated team player with a strong interest in the development and application of new live cell imaging techniques as well as in protein structure and function. Applicants should hold a PhD degree in the fields of Physics, Chemistry or Biology. The successful candidate is creative and hard working, has strong programming and instrumentation skills, and experience in molecular biology, microscopy, electrophysiology and/or biochemistry.

Applications should include a CV with a cover letter, a statement of research interests and the contact details of two references. The statement of research interests should clearly describe the interest the applicant has in the single molecule field and in particular in the research the Ulbrich lab is pursuing. Please submit your application electronically as a single pdf file to: max.ulbrich@bioss.uni-freiburg.de.
