For the realisation of the EFRE project “VEGEMONT - Mapping of site suitability for Vegetable cultivation in Mountain areas”, we would like to expand our team of young and motivated scientists by recruiting an experienced
Scientist with focus on GIS-based Modelling of Plant Growth (m/f) VE02
for a 4-year project collaboration contract starting on the 1st of January 2012.
Main tasks will include acquisition, management and statistical analysis of GIS-based and agronomic data in order to forecast the suitability of cultivation sites for several vegetable crops. The remuneration will be based on the salary of a technical expert (functional level VIII) of the Autonomous Province of Bolzano.
Required qualifications:
• Applicants are required to have an academic degree (MSc, PhD) with good knowledge of mathematical modelling of plant growth, mainly depending on meteorological factors; experience in modelling growth of crop plants, and especially vegetables, would be an advantage.
• We expect basic knowledge in the use of GIS-software; programming in C+ language would be an advantage.
• Fluent in Italian and/or German, good communication skills in oral and written English.
• Candidates should be highly motivated, able to work independently in a research group and possess sound problem solving skills.
