- Coordinate the day-by-day activities of the virological LaoLux Laboratory in Vientiane, Laos. The candidate will be appointed for about 9 months/year in Laos
- Prepare the strategic planning of the research in close collaboration with the Dept of Immunology
- Manage the joint research projects of the Dept. of Immunology and the LaoLux Laboratory
- Provide specific expertise in the pertinent research areas
Activities and responsibilities of the LaoLuxLab (in collaboration with the HOD of the Dept of Immunology):
- Play a prominent role in the establishment of a new laboratory in South East Asia
- Establish the LaoLux virology group; contribute to the definition of the research priorities
- Scientific writing of articles for peer-reviewed international journals
- Develop scientific methodology and techniques adapted to the research project
- Train and supervise the technical staff, master students, PhD students
- Work in coordination with other post-doctoral scientists on their projects
- Contribute to defining research priorities with the HOD of the Dept of Immunology
- Present the work as well as results during laboratory meetings and at international meetings
- Communicate problems and suggestions for solutions in a clear way
- Participate in the societal dimension: dissemination of simplified research results to the general public (through articles, conferences, etc)
- Collaborations: establishment of a link between the laboratory and other partners, validation of the results, participation in the establishment of techniques that can eventually be transferred to other laboratories and cooperation with the institutions organizing the quality control

- Functional reporting line: project leader or researcher, HOD
- Internal: project leader, members of the project team, HOD
- External: dealing with external professional contacts as defined in his/her research projects
Scientific competence, work experience, diploma:
- PhD in life sciences (biology etc. ...)
- Experience in scientific work with and in developing countries
- Excellent time management, rigor, motivation, scientific creativity and originality, writing skills, conciseness, sense of priority and sense of human relations, punctual and reliable, stable health conditions
- A strong academic record and keen interest/knowledge in virology and infectious agents is essential
- Excellent proficiency in English and scientific writing skills are a must
- Knowledge of modern communication and computing skills
