Postdoctoral position in myocardial physiology and tissue engineering (München)

Our research is focussed on the pathomechanisms of cardiac ischemia, and on therapeutic interventions including preconditioning, compliant reperfusion, and stem cell engraftment. The first-line targets comprise mechanotransduction, membrane integrity, and ion currents in ischemia. The experimental approach will be based on organotypic culture of human and mouse myocardium which enables analysis by up-to date methods of functional imaging, genetic manipulation, and electrophysiology. The development of stem cell culture into a similarly complex and functional tissue is one of our long-term goals.

The candidate should have an MD or PhD degree in Life Sciences with sound experience in experimental research. A special background in molecular biology, tissue engineering, or electrophysiology would be welcome. Motivation is required for the development of new experimental approaches, mentoring of doctoral fellows, and for lecturing tasks in all fields of Physiology.

The Walter-Brendel Centre is a translational research institute within the University Clinics of the Ludwig-Maximilians University of Munich. It is dedicated to cardiovascular research and offers a lively environment with central facilities of bioimaging and animal care, together with rich opportunities for clinical cooperation. We offer a post-doc position for 3 years that may be extended and should qualify for the german degree of 'Habilitation'.

Please send your application, curriculum vitae and references by email.
