PhD and Postdoctoral Fellowships in Fuel Cell Electrocatalysis

One PhD and one postdoctoral position are available in the field of electrocatalysis for proton-exchange-membrane fuel cell. The project aims at synthesizing novel non-platinum catalysts for the fuel cell cathode (see e.g. Energy & Env. Science 4, 114 (2011) and Nature Commun. 2, 416 (2011)) and investigating their power and durability performance.

Both positions will involve the synthesis or surface modification of iron and carbon-based catalysts by chemical and thermal routes, their characterization by advanced ex-situ techniques and by electrochemical techniques in rotating disk electrode and fuel cell. The appointments are for 3 years for the PhD position and 2 years for the postdoctoral position with a start during the first half of 2012.

The PhD candidates must have a Master’s or graduate degree in Chemistry, Electrochemistry, Chemical Engineering or Physical Chemistry. The postdoctoral fellow candidates must have experience in either electrocatalysis, durability testing in fuel cell or in the synthesis or surface modification of high-surface-area carbonaceous materials.

Interested candidates should send by email a curriculum vitae, description of research interests and experience, preferred starting date and at least one professional reference. Applications will be considered until the positions are filled.
