Postdoctoral researcher in Climate Change Biology/Ecology Project B2.13 [Ref. #B49a] (Frankfurt am Main)

The Biodiversity and Climate Research Centre (BiK-F) is a interdisciplinary institute with the mission to carry out internationally outstanding research on the interactions of biodiversity and climate change on the organism level. It has been founded by the Senckenberg Gesellschaft für Naturforschung, the Goethe-University Frankfurt am Main, and other partners. The Centre is funded by the Federal State of Hesse through its Initiative for the Development of Scientific and Economic Excellence (LOEWE).
It provides a new, dynamic research environment that integrates a variety of disciplines from both natural and social sciences. The Project Area B “Biodiversity Dynamics and Climate” and C “Adaptation and Climate” invites applications for the position of a

Postdoctoral researcher in “Climate Change Biology/Ecology”
Project B2.13 [Ref. #B49a]

The successful candidate will join a highly motivated team of scientists and research support staff who are working at the Senckenberg Research Station Gelnhausen (close to Frankfurt) and in Frankfurt on a variety of topics in stream/floodplain ecology, conservation and evolutionary biology. She/he will work on two projects, dealing with different aspects of climate change impacts on biodiversity:
(1) An interdisciplinary project with hydrological (by Prof. P. Döll, University of Frankfurt) and freshwater ecological (Dr. S. Jähnig) aspects, where the successful candidate will develop ecological response functions to stream discharge changes for benthic invertebrates and fish. (2) An interdisciplinary project to model the impacts of climate change on genetic diversity of various plant and animal taxa. In addition, the successful candidate is expected to contribute to managing the projects and to advising graduate students.

Essentials:
