PhD Position in the Laboratory of Behavioral Genetics, Brain Mind Institute, Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne (EPFL), Switzerland

A PhD position is available for an excellent candidate with strong qualifications and high motivation to investigate the neurobiological mechanisms that translate stress effects into psychopathology. This particular project focuses on the study of the developmental effects of stress on social and cognitive behaviors and will require the application of behavioral approaches in rodents, surgery, drug microinfusion and neuroimaging and/or molecular approaches (RT-PCR; ChipIP).

Highly motivated candidates with an excellent Master’s degree in Neuroscience, Biology, Pharmacy, Psychology or related disciplines are encouraged to apply. Previous experience in rodent behavior and/or any of the other techniques involved in the project is welcome. A strong interest in multidisciplinary research (neurobiological basis of behavior) and good writing and communication skills are important.

The research will be conducted at the Laboratory of Behavioral Genetics (http://lgc.epfl.ch/) at the recently developed Brain Mind Institute (EPFL; http://bmi.epfl.ch/), a center dedicated to exploring the emergence of higher brain function across multiple levels ranging from gene expression to cognition and emotional processing.

Interested candidates should send by email a pdf document including: CV, a research statement indicating scientific interests and relevant experience and the names and contact details of 3 reference persons to:
