The Institute
The Leibniz Institute of Ecological Urban and Regional Development (IOER) is member of the Leibniz Association and with its more than 130 employees the largest spatial planning science institute in Germany. It carries out interdisciplinary research into issues of sustainable urban and regional development from an ecological perspective across all spatial scales.
The position
Your overall task is to spatially assess the vulnerability and risk of cities and regions using GIS, statistical methods and other tools. Thematic areas are natural hazards and climate change. Research is dealing with the conceptual development and programming of vulnerability and risk assessment models on multiple spatial scales.
Your competences
A doctor’s degree in earth system sciences or comparable education with very good to excellent grade together with an expertise in geoinformatics is requested. Research experience should regard to GIS-based modelling with according programming techniques.
