Senior Researcher in "Security and Privacy by Design"

     The position is initially limited to 4 years. We offer a tenure track; the decision on extension or tenure will be taken based on an evaluation of results after 4 years. We offer competitive personal     
     compensation and access to resources comparable to the assistant/associate professor level. Applicants will be selected based on their credentials, references and participation in a scientific 
     colloquium.

The position will be responsible for forming and leading a research team.

This position is associated with the European Center for Security and Privacy by Design (EC-SPRIDE), a new center established jointly by Fraunhofer SIT and the Technische Universität Darmstadt, pending approval by the German Ministry of Science and Education (BMBF). The success of EC-SPRIDE will be measured in terms of the quality and the impact of its research results. While the scope at large is defined – engineering methods for building, testing and assuring predictably secure systems – the specific goals and objectives will be determined by the EC-SPRIDE senior researchers.

Within this center, Fraunhofer SIT is specifically interested in security engineering and security testing focused on specific application domains, e.g., security engineering for cyberphysical systems, automotive systems, software as a service (cloud computing).


Your profile:

Candidates must have a finished PhD/doctoral degree in Computer Science or a related area; an outstanding publication record; and demonstrated experience in working with the international research community. Ideally they have held at least one postdoc position at a university other than the one they obtained their PhD degree from.

Applicants need to submit a research statement (up to 5 pages) that describes their motivation and intended research program. In addition applications must include the following information, preferably as part of a single attached PDF:

  • A full CV, including educational and employment history, full contact data, gender, and citizenship
  • A list of publications, and scanned-in copies of the 3 most significant ones
  • A Scanned-in copies of master's degree or diploma, and PhD certificate
  • The names and e-mail addresses of four references whom we may contact for comments on an applicant's work.
