The Chair for Biofunctionality of Food at the Technische Universität München is looking for

1 PhD student
(TV-L13/II, Tarifgebiet west)

The position is available immediately and for a duration of 3 years.
Research activities at the Chair for Biofunctionality of Food are focused on the role of intestinal microorganisms and nutrition on the development and regulation of chronic inflammatory diseases.
We offer an exciting research project, well-equipped laboratories and a fruitful scientific atmosphere.
We are looking for a highly motivated PhD student, who will be part of the Young Research Group “Intestinal Microbiome” aiming at characterizing the role of intestinal microorganisms in health and diseases. The project will be focused on the characterization of microbial triggers (e.g. heat shock proteins) in inflammatory bowel diseases at the level of single molecules/strains and the entire ecosystem. Expertise in any of the following areas will be a plus: molecular & classical microbiology, immunology, microbial ecology, bioinformatics.
