Postdoctoral Position or PhD Student Position

Applications are invited for a postdoctoral position or a PhD-student position at the
Departments of Psychiatry and Neurology, University of Jena. The focus of the positions is on
developing and applying new methods for computational morphometry.

The candidates should have a Ph.D. or degree in Psychology, Neuroinformatics, Neuroscience,
Physics or a related area. Experience in anatomical MRI (data acquisition, processing,
statistics) and programming skills (Matlab, C/C++) are desirable.

This post is based in the Structural Brain Mapping Group in Jena (http://dbm.neuro.uni-
jena.de), a multi-disciplinary research team in the Departments of Neurology and Psychiatry.
The departments have excellent research facilities including an on-site, research-dedicated
Siemens Tim Trio 3T MRI scanner.

Our group focuses on the quantification of anatomical structures in the brain and on the
classification of the changes they undergo, especially in the early phases of neuropsychiatric
disorders such as schizophrenia or Alzheimer’s disease.

Salary will be according to “EG 13 TV-L” (PostDoc 100%, PhD Student 50%). The appointment is
initially for 2 years with the option of extension.
