PhD position “Marginal Seas and Climate Predictability”
Project E13 [Ref. #E35a]
The successful applicant will couple the ocean model NEMO with the regional climate model COSMO-CLM for the North and Baltic sea basins in close cooperation with ocean and atmosphere modelers. He/she will evaluate the implemented coupled modelling system and investigate the impact of the sea-atmosphere coupling on climate predictability over Central Europe.
The applicant should hold an earned master or diploma degree in meteorology, oceanography, hydrology, mathematics or similar. Good written and oral English language skills and interest in joining a multidisciplinary research team are required. Knowledge of German would be an advantage, and at least the willingness to learn basic German is required. Good programming skills will be an asset.
Salary and benefits are according to 65% of a public service position in Germany TV-H E 13, 65%).
