PhD: Combined Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) and Functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging

Applicants are invited for a PhD position at the MR Centre of Excellence (Center for Medical Physics and Biomedical Engineering) at the Medical University of Vienna under the direction of Prof. Christian Windischberger and Prof. Ewald Moser.

The MR Centre of Excellence operates two 3 Tesla scanners (Siemens Tim Trio, Bruker Medspec) and a 7 Tesla Siemens scanner and has access to TMS, EEG and PET facilities through its collaborators.

The successful candidate should work on the implementation of concurrent TMS and fMRI at 3 Tesla and the development of TMS coils for application at 7 Tesla.

We are looking for enthusiastic candidates with strong interests in interdisciplinary, multi-modal neuroimaging. The applicant should have a master (or comparable) degree in physics, electrical engineering, or in a related field.

Preferred qualifications for this position include:
• Programming experience with C++, R, or Matlab
• Familiarity with Linux will be an advantage

The successful candidate will join a friendly and interdisciplinary research team of physicists, mathematicians, statisticians, physicians, psychologists, and neuroscientists.
