Postdoc and PhD positions in Computational Biology and Evolutionary Genomics ,Dresden, Germany

The Research Group “Computational Biology and Evolutionary Genomics”, headed by Michael Hiller, invites applications for Postdoctoral and PhD positions. Our work involves many aspects of computational biology, genomics, evolution, computer science as well as molecular and developmental biology.

The group is jointly affiliated with the Max Planck Institute of Molecular Cell Biology and Genetics (CBG) and the Max Planck Institute for the Physics of Complex Systems (PKS) as part of the joint Center for Systems Biology in Dresden. Both institutes are highly interactive and interdisciplinary workplaces and provide an international atmosphere with English as the official language. Applicants for Postdoc and PhD positions should have a degree in computational biology, bioinformatics or a related area, a passion for developing and using computational tools to analyze large biological data sets as well as excellent written and verbal communication skills. High motivation and the ability to work both independently and in a team of computational and experimental researchers is also required. Good experience with scripting languages (perl, python), C or C++, SQL and Linux shell tools are an advantage.
