PhD- Stem cells / Molecular regulation of adult neurogenesis,Erlangen/Nürnberg,Germany

Our laboratory studies the molecular and cellular mechanisms underlying the generation of new neurons from stem cells in adult mammals. In particular, we are focusing on
a) deciphering the transcriptional and epigenetic mechanisms controlling stem cell fate and functional integration of newborn neurons.
b) the effect of neurodegeneration on the stem cell niche.
We are looking for a highly motivated PhD student with a background in biology/biochemistry/neurobiology. We offer state-of-the art methods and a highly interactive laboratory atmosphere.
