Postdoctoral position: mRNA-Biology (Processing, Transport and Translation)

Many diseases, like cancer or neurodegenerative diseases result from incorrectly processed mRNAs. This project aims to understand mRNA-processing and quality control as well as mRNA transport and translation. By using a variety of different methods, proteins will be identified and characterized that are involved in these processes. Moreover, we study the regulation and the linkage between processing, transport, quality control and translation. We use the budding yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae as a model organism in which we combined cell biological and biochemical methods with genetics. Additionally we use human cell culture. The studies will lead to a better understanding of gene expression.
