The Graduate School of Life Sciences (GSLS) Invites Applications for its Doctoral Program
Fellowships by the “Excellence Initiative by the German Federal and State Governments”

Würzburg is one of Germany’s leading Life Sciences Universities. Internationally renowned research centers such as the Biocenter, the Research Center for Infectious Diseases, the Rudolf Virchow Center / DFG Research Center for Experimental Biomedicine as well as other research institutions provide exceptional research opportunities.
The GSLS comprises more than 320 doctoral researchers and runs research training programs in the following sections:
Biomedicine | Infection and Immunity | Integrative Biology | Neuroscience

We offer
• an international, English speaking and widely visible research environment,
• a taxfree personal fellowship for one year / either followed by a continuing fellowship or a research grant
• funding of research and conference expenses,
• continuous supervision and mentoring by a thesis committee,
• a strong network of peers,
• advanced scientific and transferable skills training (including a special mentoring program for female doctoral researchers),
• special tutoring for international students.

We expect
• passion for and experience in research,
• an excellent university degree obtained within the last two years, usually an MSc or Diploma (if graduation is expected by January 2012 you may apply; exceptional candidates holding an Honours BSc can join after a qualification period),
• proven excellent oral and written English skills,
• eagerness to work in an interdisciplinary and international environment
